Computers Make Dreams Come True for People with Disabilities
Success
Thanks to her ICT skills, Kseniya Mukhina, an alumna of the Nizhny Novgorod special education boarding school for the blind and visually impaired, remains highly successful in her current pursuits and optimistic about her future.
Overview
In 2006-2009 Kseniya Mukhina took all the basic courses of the Microsoft Unlimited Potential Curriculum and became a fairly competent PC user. Now her digital competence helps her to successfully combine the last year of high school and a course in therapeutic massage at the local nursing school.
Despite a large academic workload and her physical impairment, Kseniya Mukhina remains successful in her current pursuits and feels optimistic about her future. To a large degree, she owes her success to her excellent computer skills which save her much time in searching for and retrieving new information, doing research for her school papers, etc. Kseniya is planning to go to medical school where even healthy students, let alone students with serious disabilities, cannot study well without advanced ICT skills. Fortunately, modern computer technologies enable people with disabilities to enjoy equal educational, professional and personal opportunities with their healthy peers.
