Success
After completing Internet and World Wide Web Fundamentals, Tatyana Smolina, a piano teacher in a music school in Chelyabinsk, used her new e-mail and web search skills to improve her teaching materials and techniques and, ultimately, successfully passed her qualifying certification, proving her professional competence and keeping her job.
Overview
Internet and World Wide Web Fundamentals introduced Tatyana Smolina to information portals, search engines, reference services and electronic catalogs and helped her discover a whole new world of digital sheet music, images and e-books. She learned to use History and Favorites, and other helpful browser features and used them to compile her personal sheet music library which has proved very helpful to her professionally. The Internet has become a valuable source of new repertoire for her students, providing Tatyana with sheet music of contemporary tunes adapted for children. The alumna’s piano lessons have become much more fun for her and the children, giving the young pianists new strong motivation to learn and practice.
E-mail skills have also proved extremely valuable, as Tatyana has begun exchanging messages with her co-workers and receiving timely updates on the latest developments in the local music education scene, which enables her and her students to actively participate in music events in the city and the region.
The alumna says that the Internet has significantly expanded her professional horizons and capacities, enabling her to update her teaching materials and keep abreast of the latest events in the music world and new technologies of modern music education. Thanks to the knowledge and skills received during the IDEA course, Tatyana Smolina has successfully passed her qualifying certification, proved her professional competence and kept her job.
