Nadezhda Buyanova: “I’ve kept my job!”
Success
Nadezhda Buyanova from Chelyabinsk has been able to keep her job despite the layoffs in her company thanks to the knowledge and skills she acquired at the IDEA Center.
Overview
Nadezhda Buyanova worked as an accountant with a local firm, and the small volume of work allowed her to manage without the computer and MS Office applications. Once the recession hit, her firm was taken over by a larger company with its own personnel and a much larger workload, and to keep her job Nadezhda had to quickly learn to use the computer, e-mail and the Internet, and acquire good MS Excel and MS Word skills.
To gain the necessary knowledge and skills Nadezhda came to the IDEA Center of Chelyabinsk public library. After completing Computer Fundamentals, she went on to take Word Processing Fundamentals and Internet and World Wide Web Fundamentals, fully equipping herself for the new workplace. Now the alumna is a competent user of all MS Office applications, knows how to effectively search the Internet for information, and successfully uses e-mail to correspond with clients and tax authorities.
Thanks to the knowledge and skills acquired at the IDEA Center, Nadezhda Buyanova has kept her job, found her place on the new staff team, and increased her productivity by using ICTs in accounting, business correspondence and general office work.
