Elena Lomova: “Nothing is Impossible Anymore!”
Success
Taking a Microsoft Unlimited Potential computer literacy course and attending seminars at the Cheboksary IDEA Center helped Elena Lomova face the challenges of working with electronic resources and make her business more productive and efficient.
Overview
Business owner Elena Lomova is working with an international network company. Until recently she wasn’t able to use the company’s website for lack of Internet skills, and her work noticeably suffered. Thanks to the knowledge and skills gained during the computer literacy training at the IDEA Center in Cheboksary Elena began using computer technologies in her work. She registered on the company’s website, uploaded her client database and orders, began participating in contests and interactive surveys. The alumna has customized her Personal Profile on the website and begun exchanging e-mail messages with healthy lifestyle enthusiasts not only from her town but also from other cities throughout Russia and beyond. Working online saves Elena much time she used to spend on processing orders. The alumna has learned to use flash drives and CD-ROMs and collected an extensive e-library for self-development and self-education. She has also used her MS Word skills to write an article about harmful and dangerous substances used in manufacturing some beauty and hygiene products and food stuffs, and recommended new and safer technologies and products to her readers.
In Elena’s words, she used to think that computers were way too complicated for her. She considers mastering computer skills her major achievement and says that computer competence has already given her many new ideas and business opportunities, helped her make new friends and develop new goals and plans for the future.
