“With Computer Competence I Can Learn Many New Things”
Success
In the spring of 2009, Viktor Tzubrovich, one of the most active IDEA alumni in Tomsk, pleasantly surprised his fellow Presentation Fundamentals trainees, instructors and users of A.S. Pushkin regional library in Tomsk with his masterfully developed multimedia presentation on outer space.
Overview
According to the description of his project on the library’s website and in the news section of the IDEA Project website, “Viktor Tzubrovich’s presentation contained much interesting information about outer space, the Solar system and our planet Earth. The alumnus used photos from his personal collection, enhancing the general effect by using autoshapes and animation.”
This success was preceded by several IDEA courses: first Computer Fundamentals, Viktor’s first introduction to computer technologies, and then Word Processing Fundamentals and Presentation Fundamentals. In his feedback after the last training course Viktor wrote: “I’m very happy to have this chance to master computer technologies. My new skills will enable me to work with text documents and maintain business correspondence, and my new knowledge has considerably increased my potential for learning new things.”
And it is indeed so. Viktor Tzubrovich doesn’t want to stop at what has been achieved and continues to attend training courses and seminars at the IDEA Center together with his wife, Lubov Tzubrovich. Equipped with good сomputer skills and excited about his new competence, he also remains very active in the local community, anxious to share his knowledge and skills with others. In his own words, IDEA training opened his eyes to modern technologies, giving him a new understanding of their many uses and great potential for enhancing people's creative expression and self-actualization.
After completing the course in Digital Media Fundamentals, Viktor Tzubrovich was one of the first to present his final project, a well-known Russian fairly tale, philosophically interpreted and made into a dynamic, engaging and colorful animation short. Viktor developed the animation clips for the project himself, using GIPM. Everyone who saw the video commented on the author’s obvious giftedness and skill in using Movie Maker and GIPM – yet another proof that knowledge and skills gained during the IDEA training courses have found creative expression in the alumnus’s work, motivating him to explore new areas of modern technologies and their unlimited potential.
