Longer Training for IDEA Groups in Ulan Ude
On 30 September 2009, the IDEA Center in the National Library of the Buryat Republic graduated another group of IDEA trainees who took two Microsoft Unlimited Potential courses, Computer Fundamentals and Internet and World Wide Web Fundamentals, together – which from now on will be the IDEA Center’s standard practice. As part of their training the alumni had also attended two supplementary seminars, “Making Videos in Microsoft Movie Maker” and “Searching for Vacancies Online”.
The trainees were especially excited about learning to make short videos. At first they selected their favorite photos from the course, processed them with Microsoft Оffice Picture Manager and then went on to create a short video about their IDEA training using Microsoft Movie Maker. They were very happy with the result and quite proud of themselves since they had never worked with such applications before.
At the last seminar the alumni were introduced to skills of effective Internet job search, e-mailing and posting their résumés online and looking for legal aid information. Everyone appreciated the usefulness of the seminars. In her feedback alumna Larisa Shambalova wrote: “The seminar was very helpful. I am very grateful to my instructor for the new knowledge and skills which will definitely come in handy in my job search.”
