The participants of the all-Russia research and training conference “Social Rehabilitation of Juvenile Offenders,” held in Yekaterinburg in late November 2008, expressed special interest in the unique experience of Kemerovsky region educators in holding IDEA computer training courses for juvenile offenders, one of the most difficult and underserved population groups in the country.

At release, more than 80% inmates of juvenile correctional facilities find themselves at risk of sliding back into crime since they’re compelled to return to dysfunctional families or underfunded and understaffed foster/childcare facilities. For them computer training could become a powerful and effective tool of social adaptation and a guarantee of employment and successful integration into society.
