The Institute of the Information Society (
IIS) conducted an independent evaluation of the IDEA Project’s work in Russia in 2006 and the first half of 2007. Among other things the evaluation report says that “the results achieved in the comparatively brief period of time are rather impressive, and the choice of implementation strategy and methods has been fully adequate.”
The independent evaluation has shown that over the last eighteen months there has been created “a viable system of regional centers that successfully implement the IDEA Project in Russia and carry the added potential of implementing other comprehensive projects aimed at increasing information competence and awareness of the general population and specific professional groups.”
According to IIS experts who participated in the independent evaluation of the Project, it can be concluded that the implementation of the IDEA Project has been very successful due to the efficient work of the Project's managing team and the high level of professional excellence on the part of IDEA Educational Centers in various regions of the country.
Such an assessment of the IDEA Centers is an undeniable testimony to the highly qualified personnel working in different centers and their conscientious and responsible attitude to their task. The IDEA Project staff is a large and capable team of like-minded and creative enthusiasts, working together towards an important and socially significant goal.
The report also includes recommendations about the further development of the IDEA Project which will certainly be taken into consideration in the process of fine-tuning the Project's objectives and outlining further strategies for its implementation. The Project will continue its development, engaging and involving more and more Russian residents interested in increasing their information competence.
