Dashirabdan Batozhbai State Youth Library of the Buryat Republic was founded on September 1, 1978, by the decision of the republican ministry of culture. Today it is a modern educational and recreational center for young residents of Ulan Ude and the entire republic. From the start the team of librarians has promptly responded to the changing needs of young people, renewing and updating its collections, adding or restructuring departments, and exploring new directions of development.
The library serves more than 16,000 users including high school and university students, students of vocational schools and community colleges, young professionals and youth workers. The library boasts a collection of more than 180,000 printed volumes and about 7,000 electronic editions as well as separate collections of books on art, economics, law, environmental science, local history, economy and lore, etc.
Over the years the Youth Library has become a valuable part of the local youth socialization system and gained the reputation of a reliable partner. Its work, based on exploring the needs of the young generation and cooperating with various social institutions, enjoys popular support and continuous patronage of young people.
Thanks to its user-centered approach, innovative methods and technologies, strategic management and social initiatives and partnerships, the Youth Library of the Buryat Republic provides its young patrons with new and advanced services, all the while fostering young people’s moral and intellectual development and growth. |
